| Hajimemashite. My name is Tadashi Sakai. Call me Sakai sensei (=Teacher
Sakai). I am a Japanese teacher of Wolverhampton Girls' High School. Originally I was a first language Japanese teacher in Japan, which is the same as your English teachers in the UK. I taught Japanese modern literature / language and classical Japanese literature / language for secondary school students. I practised Japanese calligraphy from 5 or 6 to 22 or 23 years old, so I am nearly professional in this area. Also I practised Shorinji Kempo, from 1st year of high school for about 5 or 6 years. Yes, I have got a black belt. After graduation of Waseda University, I carried on to a post graduate school for an advanced teacher qualification. I taught at two schools in Japan and found a job at Rikkyo School in England, in West Sussex in 1989. So I became a Japanese teacher of this boarding school for Japanese expartiate students. Increasingly I became interested in Japanese linguistics, and decided to go back to Japan to study at the post graduate school again. I was awarded Mphil from Waseda University. My speciality is Philology, a study of historical change of language. To be qualified as a secondary school teacher in the UK, I comleted a Post Graduate Certificate in Education course in the UK. I have collected many qualifications over 11 years of learning at higher education: BA, Dip, Mphil and PGCE. So you can trust me what I say about Japanese language. My latest papar: 「私たちはどうして正しい漢字が書けないのか」境 匡(2007)『日本語論叢 特別号』 |
